I love blog contests. I have always wanted to hold one myself but never seemed to get around to it. I have decided to correct this immediately by holding my first blog contest on Chasing The Bull. The overall goal of this contest is to increase my subscriber count by 25 – 50 readers. If you have not done so, please consider subscribing!

The contest rules are as follows:

Contest Dates: February 17, 2009 – February 28, 2009

Grand Prize: Quicken 2009 Starter Edition – As this blog focuses primarily on personal finance, debt and passive income, I think that the grand prize is completely relevant. I purchased two copies of this program (one for me and one for this contest) and, so far, I really like its functionality. If you already have some type of budgeting software, subscribe anyway and give it away to your readers.

Additional Prizes: In addition to the grand prize, two subscribers will receive a free 125×125 ad for one month. To be eligible for these prizes, you must have the code prepared (since I do not know how to do that). I typically have my friend Pete design my logos since he is so talented and his prices are extremely competitive. That reminds me, I need him to create a new logo for one of my niche sites.

Eligibility Requirements: Subscribe to my RSS feed via email. This will be the only way to track who has actually subscribed. Doing so in a RSS reader does not let me know who you are and will not count as a valid entry into the contest. That’s it! Pretty simple. If you blog about this contest I will add another entry into the contest which effectively doubles your chances to win. Drop me a comment on this post letting me know the link so that I can ensure you get proper credit.

It is no secret that one of my favorite personal finance blogs is MiB. Hank does such a great job writing about subjects that really hit close to home.

One of the ways to earn additional entries into the contest is to discuss “The Things That I have Learned This Year”.

Over the past year, I have come to realize that my family is the most important thing in the world. When I was in my 20s, I had one goal; make money so I could retire early. What I failed to understand is that if I did not have such a wonderful family, retirement would not have been as wonderful as it will be.

Weekends are now filled with games of “Chase”, which involves me running after my 2 year-old son, pretending that I cannot catch him, playing with Thomas the Tank Engine, throwing a Nerf football, and watching the Veggie Tales.

And to be honest, I could not be any happier!
