Plastic bins help make you an organizational ninja
Achieving true organizational zen is nothing short of an art form. The very balance of how all the clutter in your life has a system for getting filed away, when you can use your existing system to expand the amount of work you can handle on a daily basis and enjoy all the increased work load with ease because you know how easy it will all be once you’re in the zone, working on whatever you are working on with laser focus because deadlines and pending tasks mean little to you for they are already filed away in that system of yours. Like all art forms however, this is something that can be taught and I am a very willing sensei.
You can’t however do this on your own and will definitely need a set of tools to get the job done right from the get go. One of my favorite weapons to wield during times like these is a set of plastic stackable bins which can be used in all situations. Another indispensable tool are plastic baskets or plastic storage totes which allow you to store all your office supplies in the most easy to use form possible. Once you have that sorted, there is little else left for you to do!
What you need to do next is get yourself out there, use a little elbow grease and get the stuff in the right receptacles. To borrow a metaphor from software used to manage email which was originally borrowed from the way that real life desks work, a method of sorting everything with the Inbox, Outbox and the Drafts receptacle is a good way to start. For bigger projects you can assign separate bins with removable labels on them. Office supplies are easily managed using other plastic bins with storage compartments in them.
