100 Article Challenge – Phase Two of my Passive Income Challenge

30 July, 2009 (09:24) | Article Writing Challenge, Passive Income Challenge | By: Dusty

Last month, I was able to complete ten niche Sniper sites. Each of these sites have about 5 to 10 pages of content and are currently being monetized by Clickbank products and Adsense. Even though I had fun creating these Sniper sites, in August I am shifting my focus back to writing articles. I will post about my progress once the month is over.

During July, I created approximately 50 articles in addition to the articles written for my niche sites. Each of these additional articles were published at ezinearticles with backlinks to my niche sites. Even though some of the articles are only a few weeks old, I am seeing a decent amount of traffic to my landing pages. I am also seeing a few clicks; which makes me even happier.

My buddy over at Passive Family Income, is challenging himself to create an additional 100 articles on eHow this month. While I can appreciate all the hard work and effort that this will take, I am concerned about his lack of diversification; with respect to revenue sharing sites. I understand the trust factor associated with eHow. They pay on time every month, rank extremely well in the search engines and display nicely targeted ads for the visitors to click see. Unfortunately, after my today dot com disaster, I will never put too much trust in one place again.

Don’t get me wrong. I love eHow and will keep writing for them. I simply want to diversify my online empire a bit. I would hate to spend hundreds of hours creating quality content only to have a site go under leaving me to start over again. I am so lazy that this would cause me to quit completely.

August Articles Goals

Currently, I have approximately 25 articles created on InfoBarrel and 5 or 10 on HubPages. During the month of August, I have decided to challenge myself to create 50 articles for each of these sites (for a total of 100 articles). While most people elect to use Infobarrel to create backlinks for hubpages, I will be doing the exact opposite. I will use HP to drive traffic to my articles on IB. It is simply a matter of choice, but I think IB is the site of the future.

In order to complete this goal, I will need to create 3 to 4 articles a day, each and every day. Like everyone else, I will probably try and bust out 10 or 20 over the next few days to relieve the pressure of completing this goal. Unlike the short articles you can get away with on eHow, IB and HP require longer, higher quality articles. Additionally, you can only have a couple self-serving links. I like this since it helps to keep the neighborhood safer in the eyes of Google.

Since these sites actually use the author’s adsense account code, you receive a higher amount of revenue for every click you receive. My goal is to have each article earn $1 per month on average. After a few months, this should add another $100 a month to my passive income streams. I will keep you posted on my progress during the course of the month.

48 Hour eHow Book Sale – Time is Running Out – Get Yours Now!

11 December, 2008 (04:53) | Passive Income, eHow | By: User ImageDusty

The primary objective of this blog is to become debt free. A secondary objective is to try and earn as much passive income as possible. If you are a regular reader here, you will already know that I absolutely love eHow. I think the potential earnings from writing for them is tremendous. With only 45+ articles written, I am already making between $30 – $50 per month.

In the beginning, my articles were poorly constructed and my earnings were slow, at best. One of the smartest things I did was to purchase Maria’s eBook. This well written eBook taught me a ton of new ways to tweak my articles so that I would get more visitors. As we all know, visitors equal money.

While surfing the eHow forums this morning, I found out that another eHow super-producer was having a 48-hour sale on her eBook. To be honest with you, I did not even know that she had an eBook available. I am a huge fan and I have wondered many times how she is able to generate more than $1,000 from eHow each month. Since this eBook has been reduced to only $10, I went ahead and purchased it.

I will say that I was initially afraid that I would be spending money on information that I has already learned from Maria’s eBook. That fear quickly subsided as I immediately downloaded the book and began to read it. Both books are jam-packed with useful tips, and secrets, that they use to earn money from eHow. To be honest with you, if I had written such great eBooks, I would charge a lot more than $10.

Please note that this is not some scam trying to get you to buy the book today. Janet sells these all day at $27, and after the 48-hour sale 40-hour sale is up, she will be selling them for $27 again. I can honestly tell you that I have learned a few things in each book that will more than pay for this initial purchase. If fact, I would estimate that the changes I have made, and implemented, to my articles because of these eBooks have already paid for the books.

Buy Janet’s eBook at a ridiculously low price of only $10 HERE! This offer expires in 40 hours!

eHow and Bukisa – How to Become Debt Free by Writing Articles

23 November, 2008 (12:29) | Bukisa, eHow | By: User ImageDusty

I am absolutely loving eHow right now. For those of you who do not know, eHow is a website in which members can publish “How to” articles. The interface is really easy to use and you can create a new article in about five minutes. Once you submit your article, eHow shares the revenue generated from your article.

Many people question why I would publish an article on someone else’s website, where I have NO control over how my article is used and I only receive part of the revenue that is generated from my work. If I could generate the kind of traffic that eHow does, I would agree with you completely. eHow, however, has a page rank of 6 and receives millions of visitors each month. I think I receive around 100 visitors a day here. The basic math simplifies the equation a bit.

As my goal is to become debt free, I plan on implementing a three-headed attack; eHow, Bukisa, and this personal finance blog.

I have been writing for eHow for almost 3 months. During the first month I earned $4.50. In October I earned $18. So far in November I am on pace to make $25. To be honest with you, I have not published as many articles as I could have because I wanted to make sure that I would actually get paid. I am now comfortable that eHow will pay me. As such, I am going to step up my article writing efforts. The goal is to write one article a day for the rest of November and December.

Bukisa is a new site, similar to eHow, that I joined a few days ago. I have only published one article so far but plan on publishing at least 3 articles a week. This site is unique in that you can earn money from the revenue generated from your articles AND a portion of the revenue generated from your network’s articles. If I want to become debt free, I feel that this kind of writing will be well worth the effort.

Finally, I plan on creating a meaning personal finance post on this blog at least 5 times per week. I have so many good ideas, but unfortunately, I have been extremely busy at work over the past 6 months. I am going to make my debt free journey a priority. So expect a more active posting schedule.

What do you think? Do you know of any other places where I can earn some passive income from writing articles? Have you tried eHow or Bukisa? How much are you making each month?
