Gas Shortage in South Carolina. Really?
Two weeks after Hurricane Ike disrupted oil production, a gas shortage remains in parts of South Carolina. This afternoon I had to drive 15 minutes just to get a little gas. And when I say a little, I actually mean that. Since there is such low supply levels, the stations have put limits on the amount that you can buy – $20.
Normally, this would not be a problem, and I actually encourage this type of rationing, but at $4.10/gal, $20 will only last a few days. I have heard that it is even worse in North Carolina. In Asheville, city officials have had to close parks, recreation centers, and even some schools. I guess I cannot complain too much.
According to AAA, the Carolinas should have received large shipments at major terminals a few days ago. I am not sure if that happened or not, but we should see some relief in a couple of days.
Are you experiencing any shortages in your area? How much are you paying for regular gas in your area?
