Chasing the Bull

This has been a long time coming and it is finally here. You have been a pain in my neck for 10 years now, and it is time for us to go our separate ways. Sallie, oh Sallie…How I truly detest you!

When I was in college, I thought you were my friend. You gave me more money than I needed for tuition and books. You told me to go and enjoy myself, have a few cold beverages and enjoy myself.. no strings attached. When that money was gone, you gave me more…and more…and more. All faithfully guaranteed by the US government. I just did not realize that you had the guarantee, not me.

As we have matured together, you have always been there. I thought eventually you would get the hint and disappear, but no! Oh no Sallie! You grabbed my legs and refused to let go. As a result I feel that I must take drastic measures to eliminate you from my life once and for all.

August 1st, I finally eliminated my credit card debt. I cut those bad boys up and plan to never look back. Now it is time to attack Sallie Mae. My current balance is $10,250. The goal is to eliminate my student loan by August 1, 2009.

To do so, I will be snowflaking everything that I can. I will be selling anything in my house that is not tied down. Comic Books, you’re out of here. Baseball cards…history. Even my precious books are leaving on a jet plane. Additionally, I will be signing up for a few paid survey sites. I know the money is horrible, but I have to do this. It is that important to me and my family.

If anyone knows of any good ideas that can net me $50 - $100 bucks a month, please drop me a comment. I have set aside 1 1/2 hours each morning to doing whatever needs to be done to eliminate my student loan. Please understand that I will not compromise my ethics or responsibilities, so do not send me anything offensive or pathetic. Additionally, please only tell me about things that you actually have done, and are still doing.
